The Biographies are …

Another feature in the library is the Biography Cart. They have been sorted by the featured person’s last name. So if you are interested in reading about a specific person look on the yellow tape on the bottom or the spine for the first three letters of the person’s last name. There are books at all reading levels on the cart.

New Home for 200’S

Left 3 shelves holding Bible Stories and Old and New Testament books.
Right side 3 shelves full of books relating scripture to our lives.

We have moved the 200’s or the religion section of the Library to a new resting place right in the middle of the space. Before it had been a cart near the door but rarely seemed to get used. The books were tight on the shelves and in order by number which students did not understand. So in truth it was difficult to find a wanted book.

Now the books not only have room but are in categories that will aid in finding what one is looking for.

The left three shelves are Bible Stories. First category includes collections of bible stories mainly written for children. Next category is Old Testament further divided by event or person such as Noah and the Flood or David. The bottom shelf is New Testament divided by event or person such as Holy Week or Acts of the Apostles.

The right three shelves are books taking the Bible truth and applying it to the human life. Here you will find Devotions, Prayers and Songs, Christian Life and more. These sections are marked on shelf and on the spine of each book.

Families, students and parents are encouraged to check out the different offerings and see if they could provide spiritual support for their family. The student could check out a devotion book and the family could use it for family devotions. This would involve sharing a page or two written for children with the family. One does not have to read the entire book but may use it for the two week check out time and then try a different book if desired. If the student’s class is studying a particular section of Scripture, the child may choose a book from that part of the Bible and the lessons can be reinforced and shared at home.

Parents are invited to explore the Library catalog with students to see the many titles offered in the Mt. Olive School library. The link to the catalog can be found on the School section of the Web Site. Go to www. mtolivemke.org, then to School section and you will find library catalog on the left side of links half way down the page.

Blessings on your explorations.
