Celebrating April the month of poetry

Classes rhyming words

First Grade – Animals

The dog jumped over the log and there he found a frog.

The cat wanted to wear a hat but inside the hat she found a rat.

The bunny ate the bee’s honey and then he found some money and that is very funny.

The cow found a plow but to use it he didn’t know how.

The giraffe had half a cake with his friends he ate the cake.

2nd Grade – School Day

I went to school It was really cool.

It was pizza for lunch I liked it a bunch.

We had a snack somebody went smack.

It was math time and I said a rhyme.

I did my best and aced my test.

It was time to play and it took almost all day.

It was time to play Hurray!

3rd Grade- School

I took a look into a book and then I shook, shook, shook.

Can I tell a story all about me and all about a mystery?

I have a dime do you mind giving me a rhyme.

I wish our school had a swimming pool I’d sneak in school to have a dip in the pool.

I started reading I found a cookbook I found an elevator for my feet and I made a nice beat.

I checked the clock but then it stopped I looked on the table and saw the label.

I wish we had dress down and then met a clown.

I wish we had math but we went the wrong path.

I wish we could use the elevator for my feet then they would have a good treat.

School is cool follow the rules and don’t be a fool.

School is cool unless there is a duel.

I took my part in art but then a cart from the store barged through the door.

4th Grade – Easter

That kid that locks his bike like a bunny Looks like he is very funny.

I’m out in my lawn looking for eggs, Next thing you know I am in my bed. Easter is fun, My time is done. Thank you, this was fun.

The bunny was funny and had a huge tummy

At Easter we hunt for eggs but all I found was a bunch of pegs. At Easter people have a certain reason To celebrate the blessed season.

Every treat is so sweet I can’t wait to eat.

Every Easter dawn while I lay down in my bed, I can hear the Easter bunny scratch his furry head.

5th Grade – Water

I sat by the water without a bother. I drank some water and wished I had gotten taller.

On the beach I sweat yet I also get wet.

The water is blue and the bird flew.

When I bathe my dog he gets wet. Yet he got his tongue in the net.

We drink it to survive It’s the only way we are alive. And did you know even mice drink melted ice

I love water that comes from a lake But I don’t like it hotter It can also be used to bake.

The water flows the current grows.

Water with ice Is so very nice. The water, beautiful as art Just fills my heart.

There was an otter in the water, The otter liked the water.

6th grade – Fantasy

A wizard gave his magical cape to his pet ape The dark and right had to fight The fight was bright And it was the middle of the night.

The witch had some mice. And fed them some rice. The thief had beef with a magical leaf

We gotta be running, it’s time to drill. We gotta be cold, we gotta chill

Just slayed a dragon, I got no shame, I took all the fame, I’m playing no game.

From time to time I fantasize About if the things I hear are truth or lies I took a drive and found alive a big red dragon with a crazy eye. I turned off my lamp and shut my eyes and off to dreamland my mind flies.

Dreams of faraway places and the memory filled with princes, castles, and magic or fairies. Up on a broomstick, witches cackled and flew but in our own minds, our imagination grew.

7th Grade – Spring

Spring, Spring, Spring playing fortunate with a ping, ping the doorbell goes ring-da-ding do-ding.

I am waiting for flowers to bloom Kiss winter goodbye and the gloom.

We went to the park to see some of the cherry berry. The breeze blows and flows on my clothes. We went to the farm, it was a charm.

The dew laid on the glass and sparkled like glass. After it froze, a flower rose, and flows and glows.

During the winter I was bored Now during spring the rain poured. In the night I can see the star, The star that is oh so far. In the beginning of spring I went to the bank My salary was so low I walked the plank.

Spring is in the air We play outside like we just don’t care. I don’t care about your hair I really care about the fair

The bunny was out when it was sunny, His nose was very runny and I thought it was kinda funny.

It was hot and sunny like a blaze, Sweat running down one like a glaze, And I watch as the kids would play Time was fading away.

Puddles in spring go splat Every other season I need a new hat.

8th Grade – growing up

I liked cards, my favorite was the ACE I would use the ace to trace.

One night I was running in the dark, I didn’t know I landed in the park.

Our time in childhood has been brief But it has caused much grief. I have lost my merry heart, But my words are not tart.

I don’t believe in fairies, But the bogyman was very scary. Now that I’m older I can put up a fight But sometimes my day blends with my night.

We went outside to play all day We want to do it our own way. Outside if we were tired we would lay down We were done laying on the lawn We were so tired we yawned.

People grow up fast Like a nuclear blast It’s not great All we can do is wait.

When you grow up you might get sick Puberty hits you in the head with a brick.

I finally learned how to spell “I’m growing up” so well When I was ten, me and my friend were growing up learning how to be like men.

Time flew before we could even blink Too old to cry, but not old enough to drink.
